Byhumle & Co. is a non-profit organization, cultivating and growing hops in pots in an urban setting.

Hops seem to be a perfect plant for an urban areas, as they require quite a bit of space vertically, but have a very small footprint. We decided to experiment with growing hops in pots due to the added benefit of easy mobility. Since 2022 we have a permanent spot, that allowed us to plant our hops directly in the ground and marked a new beginning for ByHumle.

We also hope to enable local micro-brewers and home brewers to experiment with wet-hopping (or fresh hopping) their beers, as that is something that has to be done within 48 hours of harvest due to the hops’ high water content.

At the moment we have close to 50 hop plants and 3 different varieties growing on our fields in the Green Oasis of BaneGaarden. The hop farm is only 10 minutes away from the main train station of Copenhagen by bike. You can come visit us at the farm, learn more about hops and discuss using fresh hops in beer.
